Frequently Asked Questions- Semaglutide/B12

Semaglutide/B12 is an injectable glucagon-like peptide (GLP-1) receptor agonist that is administered once weekly. GLP-1 receptor agonists are utilized in the treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes.


Semaglutide/b12 works by slowing down how quickly food leaves your stomach (delayed gastric emptying) and signaling to your brain that your stomach is full. This allows patients to experience less hunger, less cravings, and feel satisfied with less calories, resulting in weight loss. Semaglutide/b12 is also used for patients with Type 2 Diabetes as it triggers insulin release from the pancreas and blocks sugar production, which  helps lower blood sugar levels. 


The addition of vitamin B12 has shown to reduce the side effects of nausea and vomiting that commonly occur with semaglutide alone.

Semaglutide has been widely studies and is a great option for most patients who are obese or overweight. 


Contraindications to Semaglutide use include patients who:

  • Have a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN2)
  • Are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Are currently taking another GLP-1 class medication


As with any medication there is a potential for side effects. Some of the common side effects include nausea, vomiting, upset stomach,  diarrhea or constipation. We offer compounded semaglutide/B12 as the addition of B12 has been shown to significantly reduce the common side effect of nausea. We will gradually increase your weekly dose to help avoid negative side effects.


In order to help reduce or avoid common side effects we recommend you to:

  • Eat slowly, reduce portion size, and stop eating when you start to feel full
  • Avoid high-fat foods, greasy foods, and foods high in sugar
  • Drink plenty of water and avoid sugary drinks such as sodas, energy drinks, sweetened tea/coffee
  • Avoid eating too close to bedtime and avoid strenuous activity immediately after eating

Total average cost is $350 every 4-8 weeks which includes telehealth visits, medication, shipping, and supplies. By using an accredited compounding pharmacy and bypassing insurance, we are able to provide a low-cost approach of supplying our patients with the leading GLP-1 agonists for weight loss. 


While results vary, patients can expect to lose 1-2 lbs per week with proper use of Semaglutide. When combined with proper diet and exercise, weight loss can be accelerated. On average, patients have lost 15% or more of their body weight.
